Our garden

Last year our garden failed terribly.  We spent all sorts of money on dirt, Tyler built a new raised bed, and we couldn't even get weeds to grow!  I wasn't sure I wanted to give it a try again this year, but last minute I went for it.  And here is what happened....

3 weeks after planting

6 weeks after planting

Oh and did I mention we have 6 chickens?

We are enjoying being pseudo farmers this year.  It is really quite rewarding to see things grow after planting them.  It is still very much a learning experience, but we feel we are off to a good start!

4th of July

This year for the 4th we went to an old fashioned celebration at Rock Ledge Ranch, next to the Garden of the Gods.  They had civil war reenactments, citations of the Declaration of Independence, Kathie Lee Bates talk about her inspiration for "America the Beautiful", and homemade ice cream.  Then we went to my sister Lori's house for a BBQ.  Independence Day has always been my favorite.  Reminds me how lucky we are to have the freedoms we have.
 Sawyer found the cheese puffs
 Daddy took a nap
Mmmm... good food with cousin Katie

God Bless America and Happy 4th of July to everyone!

Silly girl!

Two of a kind

Can you tell I love taking pictures of my cute kids?  I love that they like each other so much!

Brooklyn's room

A few people have asked me what I did for Brooklyn's nursery so for anyone who didn't see it yet, here it is!

Father's Day #2

Sawyer and Brooklyn gave Daddy a great father's day this year.  After breakfast in bed....
the kids gave daddy his gifts...
 A new t-shirt
And a book for Daddy to read to them!

What a mischievous boy!

Sawyer is growing up and getting into ALL sorts of trouble.

What is that Sawyer?  A black eye?  Oh, nope... you found mommy's makeup!

(It's a little scary that he knows exactly how to put it on)

He is also becoming quite the independent kid.  He pushed his highchair over to the fridge just to play with the magnets. Silly kid! And look at his fashion sense!

We love this kid, but he sure has kept us on our toes lately!
